Israeli archaeologist Ehud Netzer announced on Wednesday he had unearthed the 2,000-year-old remains of two sarcophagi, in which the wife and daughter-in-law of biblical King Herod had been laid to rest.
Herod, a Roman-anointed king who ruled Judea from 37 BC until his death in 4 BC, holds a special place in Jewish history as the builder of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. 11/23/08
