The world food crisis continues to hit Israel hard. The price of rice rose more than 50% during the past few weeks. The heart of the problem lies in a sharp increase in demand from countries like China and India. Their populations are exploding, and there are many mouths to feed. Since rice is grown abroad, any change in world demand hits countries like Israel - which don't grow rice - profoundly. 4/29/2008
