Le dirigeant populiste autrichien Jörg Haider roulait à 142 km/h, au lieu de 70 km/h autorisés, lors de l'accident qui lui a coûté la vie ce samedi près de Klagenfurt dans son fief de Carinthie (sud). Le véhicule, une Volkswagen Phaeton V6 de fonction, était neuf et en parfait état et "toute spéculation sur une autre cause d'accident est caduque", a déclaré le procureur Gottfried Kranz à l'agence APA. Kranz n'a toutefois pas indiqué si M. Haider, qui sortait d'une discothèque, présentait ou non une alcoolémie positive.
