Selon un responsable proche du Président français, Nicolas Sarkozy aurait transmis la lettre du père de Gilad Shalit à Bachar al-Assad.
Noam Shalit s'est dit surpris d'apprendre cette nouvelle : "Je ne peux confirmer ou nier que la France a transmis cette lettre", a-t-il déclaré avant d'ajouter "Nous sommes néanmoins en contact avec des Français qui travaillent sur le cas de Gilad".
