On Sunday, an explosion hit a gas pipeline running from Egypt to
Israel. The pipeline, which also supplies gas to Jordan, has come
under attack at least 12 times since Mubarak was toppled in 2011. The
latest blast took place west of the Mediterranean coastal town of
el-Arish. Egypt's 20-year gas deal with Israel, signed in the Mubarak
era, is unpopular with some Egyptians, with critics accusing Israel of
not paying enough for the gas. Previous explosions have sometimes led
to week-long shutdowns along the pipeline.
An IDF combat soldier from the Judea and Samaria Division lost contact
with his fellow soldiers during operational activity in the village of
Budrus near Ramallah on Wednesday. For a reason yet unknown, some of
the troops stepped out of their jeeps and one lost contact with his
battalion without anyone noticing. Palestinian residents escorted him
out of the village unharmed where he rejoined his friends.
Three Azerbaijani citizens who were arrested by security forces last
week planned to attack Jewish targets, including Israeli ambassador to
Baku Michael Lotem. The men are suspected of plotting to kill a
rabbi and a teacher at the Ohr Avner Chabad Jewish Day School in Baku
as revenge for the recent killing of a nuclear scientist in Tehran.
According to reports, the suspects received instructions from a man
who was in contact with Iranian intelligence and received a sniper
rifle, pistols and explosive devices.
A squad of Egyptian Bedouin on Sunday took control of a resort complex
in Sinai, for which they are demanding a ransom of four million
Egyptian pounds ,approximately $662 million. The squad, armed with
automatic weapons, took hold of "Aqua Sun", situated about 30
kilometers south of Taba, Egypt. There were no tourists at the site
when the squad took it hostage, however, there were Egyptian staff
members present. An Israeli source told Infolive that there were only
a handful of security guards present at the time, and that their lives
are not in danger.
On Monday Hackers shut down both the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and El Al
airlines's respective websites. The hacker network, which goes by the
name "nightmare group," was able to cause severe problems for both
sites. By 10 A.M., TASE's website was only partially functioning,
while El Al's website did not function at all. The hack comes in the
wake of a series of cyber attacks over the past two weeks, and only a
day after Hamas called for harsher hacking attempts against Israeli
websites.
Thailand's intelligence services launched a manhunt Friday for a
Hezbollah operative who is part of a terror cell planning attacks on
Israeli and Jewish targets in Bangkok. The Counter-Terrorism Bureau
has issued a warning to Israelis to stay away from the Thai capital,
and advised those already in Bangkok to avoid areas commonly
frequented by Israelis. The attack is expected sometime ahead of
February 12 - the anniversary of the assassination of Hezbollah
operations chief Imad Mughniyeh.
A new topic has emerged on cell phone screens of Twitter users this Monday it said: "Israel hates". A search for the israelhates# (hashtag) (a keyword or topic on the social network) yields thousands of results being updated by the minute.
It is unclear who initiated the hashtag, but it spread like wildfire within hours.
Four Katyusha rockets were fired from Lebanon at northern Israel on Monday night, causing damage to buildings and igniting a blaze that firefighters fought for hours. One of the 22-millimeter rockets struck a gas tank. No casualties were reported.
The Israel Defense Forces responded to the rockets by firing artillery rounds. Police and IDF forces scanned the area in search of more rockets and were able to confirm that four rockets had struck.
The IDF called the incident serious and said it holds the Lebanese government responsible for stopping rocket fire.

The Shin Bet security service announced on Wednesday that over the past two months it broke up two terrorist cells in the West Bank that had conducted shooting attacks and planted explosive charges against Israel Defense Forces patrols.
The cells did not belong to terrorist organizations and were locally organized.
One cell was made up of residents of Shura, east of Bethlehem.
Saboteurs blew up the gas pipeline between Egypt, Israel and Jordan on Thursday in the Northern Sinai using remote controlled bombs, forcing it to shut down.
The first blast, the sixth since the uprising that toppled President Mubarak and the seventh this year, was near the Mazar area, 18 miles west of the town of Al-Arish.
Witnesses also saw a second, smaller explosion west of Al-Arish near a pumping station. The report said it was not clear whether any damage was done. The explosions are the first since pumping resumed on October 24th.
