Oshri Oz,36, was killed and several Israelis lightly wounded in a Kassam rocket attack in Sderot on Sunday morning. Oz from Hod Hasharon was married and the father of a two year old girl, arrived to fix computers in the Negev town, when his car was hit.
He is the second victim to be killed in the town since the Kassam rocket attacks began on May 15. On May 21, Sderot resident Shirel Friedman was killed when a rocket exploded near her as she went to bring her mother a sweater.
At this morning's cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said no one is immune and whoever is involved in terror will be harmed. Olmert added that there is no timetable restricting Israel's military action against Hamas and other terror organizations.
Dina Cohen a resident of Sderot told Infolive.tv that early Sunday morning a rocket exploded near her home but luckily no one was wounded. "Shortly after, another rocket fell near the town's pool. A man in his mid thirties from the central area who works in the town was killed. The rocket exploded next to his car," she said.
Cohen returned on Saturday night with her family to the town after spending Shavuot with her parents in the Jerusalem area. "We did not go on the buses or to Gaydemak's camp, and we came back home last night," she said.
On Sunday morning school pupils from the town were transported by buses to study in facilities outside of the Kassam rocket range. Many of the town's residents returned over the weekend after spending a few days of brief respite at recreation centers and hotels provided by the Defense Ministry. A few hundred families attended the camp set up by Russian millionaire Arcady Gaydemak for Sderot residents in Tel Aviv.
Many of the town's residents remain outraged over the fact that there are not enough shelters or security rooms to protect them from the constant rocket attacks. Others demand that for every rocket that falls, the army should demolish Palestinian homes in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza. Some residents declare that the army should launch a widespread ground offensive similar to Operation Defense Shield launche dby the army in the West Bank in 2002.
According to the army, since May 15, over 220 Kassam rockets have been fired at Israel. In the past ten days, Israel has launched numerous air strikes over Gaza targeting Hamas command positions and weapons warehouses. 05/27/07.
