Worsening the humanitarian situation and prompting a new diplomatic push from Turkey, Armored reinforcements poured into Homs as President Bashar Assad's forces bombarded the Syrian city for a fourth day,. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Ankara could no longer stand by and watch. Syrian government forces on Thursday tightened their siege of the dissident central province of Homs, a day after killing more than 100 people in heavy shelling. Activists reported that at least 31 people died on Thursday as Assad's forces continued the attack. The Syrian opposition intensified calls for international intervention to protect civilians.
