Hours before the ceasefire with Hamas was due to end, Kassam rockets continued to hit Sderot and areas in the Negev on Thursday. In Sderot, residents accused the government of abandonning them. Fed up with having to live with the constant threat daily, they called on the government to act and halt the rocket attacks once and for all.  Hamas officials in Gaza declared they have no interest in extending the ceasefire with Israel whom they blamed for bringing about its collapse. Residents in Gaza echoed similar sentiments. In Gaza  it appears the armed terrorists dictate the daily agenda for their people, apparantly the last thing they appear to have on their minds is seeking peace.12/18/08

Hamas, Gaza, and Gilad

Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 12/19/2008 - 02:29.
Hamas is just repeating tried and true tactics, the more it threatens war, the better Hamas’s chance is to get the international community to intervene, Hamas’s can thereby obtain more funding, put pressure on US’s new President elect Obama to deal directly with them. In addition Hamas can hide behind the international community and Washington’s incoherence, and bitter criticisms of Israel, thereby holding major Gaza IDF actions at bay. Missed by Washington and seemly Israel is how Iran and Hamas plays world news media in a tag team combined effort keeping everything spinning. So far it has pretty much worked; Israel continues to be seen as the bad guy, as Hamas conducts indiscriminate warfare on Israel’s civilians, Israel is seen as conducting genocidal warfare in any defensive – protective operations. It seems that Hamas may get 10 million dollars under the table for the release of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad, and only Heaven knows what else ..This type of asymmetrical warcraft is quite toxic for Israel’s government, as seen as Hamas is desperately trying to kidnap more IDF soldiers to replace Gilad’s place., when they eventually have to release him. So more missiles and mortars for Israeli communities, Hamas working on kidnapping more IDF soldiers which has become a political gold mine for them, Gaza will become more of a Hezbollah Lebanon type strong hold, a missile base for Iran.
