For almost a year now people in Israel and people around the world have been waiting in eager anticipation for the results of Jerusalem’s hotly contested mayoral race, yet early Wednesday morning the months of suspense finally came to an end as Nir Barkat was crowned the next mayor of Israel’s most sacred city.
