On the night of November 4th 2008 the security situation between Israel and the Gaza Strip took a sharp turn for the worst. For the first time since the Israeli-Hamas ceasefire took effect in June, IDF forces launched an operation in the Gaza Strip to destroy a tunnel to be used by Hamas terrorists to infiltrate into Israeli and kidnap another IDF soldier.
