Police Commissioner Dudi Cohen, who earlier Thursday met with police officers at the Akko station, said no advance information was available regarding the possibility of riots on Yom Kippur.
"It's difficult to estimate whether this was a nationalistic event or merely one carried out by thugs," he said. "We'll know that only once the investigation develops."
