Olmert’s resignation marks the official commencement of Tzipi Livni’s daunting task of piecing together a new coalition. The task will not be an easy one and if it fails, Israel will be headed for full scale general elections. After meeting with new Kadima Leader Tzipi Livni, Defense Minister Ehud Barak promised his support for Livni’s bid to form a new coalition government. The Meretz Party also expressed their support for Livni’s new government. 09/22/08
