The traditional location for the Mount of Beatitudes is on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee, between Capernaum and Gennesaret (Ginosar). This is the hill upon which Jesus was said to have preached the "Sermon on the Mount". The lie of the land next to the church forms a natural
amphitheatre sloping down to the lake side, so it is more likely that Jesus stood at the bottom of the hill, but this does not detract from the beauty of the church on its crest.09/21/08
