Israel's 34 member Paralympic team are expected to win a number of medals at the Paralympic Games in Beijing that kicked off with a gala opening on Saturday.


Swimmer Keren Leibowitz who in 2004 at the Athens games won a gold medal, two silver medals and a bronze medal will return to the pool looking for new wins.


Another swimmer competing in the games is Inbal Pezaro who won a silver and bronze medal in Athens.

Israel's Paralympic sailing team Dror Cohen, Aaron Efratu and Benny Vexle who won gold four years ago hope to repeat the victory at this year's games.


Doron Shaziri who won two bronze medals in 2004 will also attempt to improve his record this year.
In wheelchair tennis Israel has three contenders who will fight for the gold medal, Shraga Weinberg, Boaz Kremer and Kobi Wiener. 09/07/08
