KKL-JNF Fulfilling Ben-Gurion's Dream To Make Israel's Deserts Bloom

David Ben-Gurion, the ideological father and first Prime Minister of the modern State of Israel once famously stated that the future of Israel lay in making its deserts bloom. Sixty years after the founding of the state, KKL-JNF is still working to make this dream come true through the development and funding of projects throughout Israel’s desert regions. One such project is the Road of Peace, a road built by the KKL-JNF along the Israeli-Jordanian border connecting key agricultural settlements in Israel’s Arava desert region. The Road is not only a step forward in infrastructure for these fledging desert communities, it is also part of a larger movement led by KKL-JNF to create population centers and develop desert agriculture.
