Over 100 jigsaw puzzle lovers participated on Thursday in the 10th Israeli jigsaw puzzle championship in Tel Aviv. The puzzle competition brought together Israelis from all parts of society - Arabs as well as religious Jews, children and elderly for two days of intense competition. After spending seven hours and 20 minutes on the final challenge - a 2,000 piece puzzle - the winners, four technology employees, won a trip to Turkey, their score setting a record for the Israeli championship. The largest puzzle in the world was also unveiled. The four-meter-long puzzle is made of 24,000 pieces and earned the Guinness Book of World Record's title for the 'most pieces in a commercially available jigsaw puzzle' in the world. The first Israeli to complete the puzzle, Khani Shalev, will be mentioned by name in the Guinness book of World Records. Organizers are now trying, in cooperation with the German company, Ravensburger, to arrange an international jigsaw puzzle championship to bring together puzzle-junkies from at least ten countries. They hope the competition will be held in Israel. 08/31/08

What an interesting video. It looked like a wonderful, fun event. Well done! I wish you luck in arranging an international championship and I do hope that you get to host it. I learned from your video that Khani Shalev completed the World's Largest Puzzle. I wonder if you could please tell her to contact me at info@worldslargestpuzzle.com I have assembled a web site of all the people that we know about who have completed the puzzle. Our website address is given on the puzzle box and/or the paperwork that is included inside: www.worldslargestpuzzle.com so most of them contacted me. I would love to make a 'Hall of Fame' for Khani Shalev and give her the title of 'First for Israel'. For this I need the following information: 1)name (have) 2)The city that she lives in and if Israel is divided into regions ( pardon my ignorance on this) then I would need the region, this is so that the second person in Israel to complete could still possibly get a 'firt' title...if they are from a different region to Khani then they could be first for their region, later we give firsts for cities. We have done similar for the USA... a first in the USA, then first for the various States, and then eventually it will be cities but not enough have done it yet! 3) start & finishing dates 4) whether the puzzle was done in four sections or whether the puzzle pieces were mixed beore commencing. If the latter then I need an in-progress photo as proof. 5) a photo of the person and the completed puzzle 6) a write up about the experience of assembling the puzzle. This can be as long or as short as they want. It can include tips and a link to their puzzle blog if they have one. 7) I need the all the above in English however we are willing to attempt to put it up in Hebrew if that is wanted. However we sometimes have difficult with languages that don't use the 'english' alphabet...the upkeep of the website is a labour of love by the artist's family and so we have limited resources. I do hope you will favor me with a reply and I especially hope that the puzzle organisers and/or Khani contact me. Again, congratulations on an interesting and informative article/video. best Regards, Janet M.
