Another World War will erupt if Israel or the United States attacks Iran, the Islamic Republic’s deputy Chief of Staff General Masoud Jazayeri warned Saturday. “Any aggression against Iran will start a world war,”Jazayeri was quoted as saying to the IRNA state news agency. Global Zionism and America’s unrestrained greed he said is leading the world towards a dangerous precipice. "It is evident that if such a challenge occurs, the fake and artificial regimes will be eliminated before anything," he said.
Jayzyeri’s comments come at a time that Iran is reportedly producing a new submarine , is in the midst of constructing yet another nuclear power plant, is preparing to launch its own satellite and continues to produce long range missiles that can be adapted with nuclear or chemical warheads.
In August, Iran claimed it had successfully test launched a rocket capable of carrying a satellite into outer space and that by 2010 they would be capable of launching it into orbit. Teheran also announced it had launched a submarine production line to ensure its forces are equipped to maintain security along the vital oil shipping route in the Straits of Hormuz.
In July Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards announced the successful test firing of a long range Shihab 3 missile with a distance range capable of reaching Israel. Reports claimed that the missile was test fired with a conventional warhead weighing one ton and that it had a distance range of up to 2000 kilometers.
On Friday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Reza Sheikh Attar said that the country had increased the number of operating centrifuges at its uranium enrichment plant to 4,000. The number was up from the 3,000 centrifuges that Iran announced in November that it was operating at its plant in the central city of Natanz.
Still, it was well below the 6,000 it said last year it would operate by Summer 2008, suggesting that the program may be behind schedule The news agency also quoted Jordan's King Abdullah II as saying that if an attack was launched against Iran, it would fail to achieve its objectives.
"Israel doesn't have the ability to completely destroy the atomic reactor in Teheran," Abdullah claimed, reiterating that the Islamic regime insists that its nuclear program is not for military purposes but rather for civilian uses alone.08/30/08
