An Egyptian newspaper reported on Tuesday that Hamas recently handed over to Egyptian authorities a videotape of IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, as proof that the soldier who has been held captive for two years in Gaza, is still alive. Another letter written by Schalit accompanied the videotape.
The Al Ahram al Arabi weekly report said that both the tape and letter were handed over to Egyptian authorities several days ago in accordance with a demand to provide proof that Schalit is still alive. There was no official Israeli response to the newspaper report, and Schalit’s father Noam told reporters he was unaware of the recent developments.
Speaking at the Bar Ilan University, Noam Schalit declared that he had not seen any effective, decisive or creative negotiations to free his son . After two years Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has failed to achieve any results said Schalit and therefore it is up to the public to decide.07/02/08
