Prime Minister Ehud Olmert would like to speed up the negotiations with Hamas over kidnapped soldier Gilad Schalit, sources in the Prime Minister's Bureau said Monday night. Olmert has instructed all those involved in the negotiations to do what is necessary so that the talks can progress quickly, as soon as Hamas gives Israel a new list of prisoners it wants released under the deal.


Meanwhile, Ofer Dekel, the Israeli official responsible for negotiating for the release of Shalit, as well as the two Israel Defense Forces soldiers held by Hizbullah, is expected to travel to Germany this week in order to conclude the final arrangements for the prisoner swap .

On Tuesday, Lebanese newspapers reported that the prending deal between Hizbullah and Israel will be carried out in two stages. In the first stage Hizbullah will transfer the remains of soldiers killed in the Second Lebanon war and Israel will hand over the bodies of Hizbullah and Palestinian operatives.
The following day Hizbullah will hand over IDF soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev and in return will receive terrorist Samir Kuntar and four Hizbullah fighters,
 
In the second stage which is estimated to be carried out a month later Israel will release a number of Palestinian prisoners.07/01/08
