In Safra square near the City Hall of Jerusalem on Tuesday, Jewish Orthodox children from around the country gathered in to participate in a two day event, held in honor of children with special needs.
The event entitled "The Union for Children with Special Needs" was held in honor of Jewish Orthodox Youth who are often marginalized in mainstream society due to their special attributes such as attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity and dyslexia.
Lasting over 2 days the event included various activities which were aimed at raising awareness and advancing the understanding of the childrens special situation.
Activities such as drum circles, animal petting and arts and crafts were organized so that children could fully express their thoughts and emotions through various non-conventional means.
The children were also encouraged to organize their own performances and shows, giving them a chance to reveal their hidden creative talents. 06/17/08
