Two Israeli civilian workers were killed in a terrorist infiltration at the Nahal Oz terminal located east of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday afternoon. According to initial reports four terrorists infiltrated the crossing which acts as a transit terminal restricted for the imports of Liquid Fuel and also is an Israeli storage site for petrol and gas. The terrorists opened fire at the Israeli workers killing two before fleeing.
According to reports the four terrorists who were involved in the infiltration attempted to flee back towards Gaza, two terrorists were killed by an IDF tank who identified them near the security fence and the air force fired a missile at a car used by the two other terrorists, killing one and wounding another.The Islamic Jihad, Hamas and the Popular Resistance Committee all claimed responsibility.
The army said the terrorist had planned to kidnap Israeli civilians or soldiers at the terminal. Shortly after, the air force launched a series of air strikes in northern Gaza, killing at least three Palestinians.Meanwhile Palestinians continued to fire barrages of mortar shells at Kibbutz Nahal Oz and Israeli communities in the surrounding area.Police and Magen David Adom units were dispatched to the site and are waiting to enter the terminal and treat the wounded. Members of Kibbutz Nahal Oz were ordered to remain in their homes.04/09/08
