Prime Minister Olmert told Lebanon and Syria not to worry after the two countries raised concerns that Israel's nationwide emergency drill was in preparation for an escalation of conflict. The drill focused on the North, simulating a chemical attack on a major city and a hazardous spill in Haifa Bay.
Others in the government said no one has anything to be worried about.
The drill starts today, and continues until the end of the week. A siren will sound nationwide on Tuesday. Neither Lebanon nor Hizbullah took the government's statements seriously.
Both raised their alert levels in advance of the operation. 4/6/2008
