Givati Soldier Critically Wounded In Last Week's Roadside Bomb Attack Near Kissufim Dies

Thousands attended the funeral of Givati soldier Staff Sgt Liran Banai, 20 of Ashkelon who died Sunday morning from critical wounds sustained in last Thursday's roadside bomb attack against an IDF patrol not far from Gaza's Kissufim crossing. A Beduin tracker was killed outright in the blast and two other soldiers were wounded. Doctors at the Soroka Medical Center fought valliantly to save Banai's life after he lost both legs in the blast. His parents who are deaf and hard of hearing, maintained a constant vigil at their son's bedside. On Sunday afternoon he was buried in the military cemetery of his hometown survived by his parents, sister and brother.03/09/08
