Eight Israelis murdered after a lone terrorist from east Jerusalem entered the Mercaz Harav yeshiva in Kiryat Moshe in Jerusalem on Thursday night, and opened fire on yeshiva students and teachers in the yeshiva. An off duty officer who happend upon the attack opened fire and killed the terrorist. Five of the wounded are said to be in serious condition.Following the attack Israel Police raised the level of alert throughout the country and set up roadblocks at access routes to the capital in an attempt to nab those who assisted the terrorists to enter the capital. Police said the terrorist came from Jabel Mukaber in east Jerusalem and arrived at the building dressed in jeans and carrying a cardboard box.The terrorist also opened fire at rescue teams who reached the site to treat the wounded, as special police units entered the building to search each room for additional terrorists that may be hiding out there. .Jerusalem mayor Uri Lupoliansky described the situation as a sad sad day for Jerusalem and called on the government to complete construction of the security barrier around the capital. 06/03/08
