An IDF soldier was killed and another seriously wounded after a roadside  bomb was detonated near an IDF patrol on the Israeli side of the Gaza border fence near the Kissufim crossing in central Gaza on Thursday morning. Two other soldiers were lightly wounded. The soldiers were airlifted to the Soroka Hospital in Beersheba. Hours later some of the details of the dead soldier were relased, 28 year old Beduin tracker who is survived by two wives and seven children.

The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack, Hamas also claimed its members were involved. Abu Ahmed the Islamic Jihad spokesman said the attack was to avenge the death of a senior commander killed by IDF soldiers during a brief incursion earlier this week.Last week two IDF soldiers, Staff Sergeant Dror Asulin and Eran Dan-Gur, were killed during Operation Warm Winter in the northern Gaza Strip.06/03/08
