Bolstered by Iranian support, Syria has developed new surface to surface missiles that will enable it to target with enhanced accuracy, instillations in Israel such as ports, airports and factories.. The recent development is further proof of the growing strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Israeli defense establishment officials have assessed that the technical knowledge shared by the two countries has allowed Syria to upgrade the Iranian made Zelzal surface to surface missiles that is far more accurate than other missiles in Syria’s arsenal and has a distance range capability of around 250 kilometers and is able to carry a large warhead. According to reports Syria recently purchased the Pantsyr air defense self propelled system that can fire between eight to twelve missiles.
Meanwhile a former UN weapons inspector and a retired Middle East diplomat claim that the US is heading towards an imminent war with Iran.Scott Ritter a weapons inspector in Iraq between 1991 to 1998 and Edward Peck a former ambassador to Mauritania and mission chief in Baghdad told the Cleveland Jewish News that the White House is using blatant fabrications to swing the opinion of the American public against Iran’s developing nuclear program in order to overthrow the Islamic Republic.
