Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will attend a session at the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministry, after accepting an invitation issued during a meeting with a delegation of Kadima Party members at the Mukata in Ramallah on Thursday.
The announcement of Abbas' acceptance came as the The Counter Terrorism Bureau issued a warning described as high level and concrete, calling on all Israelis to immediately leave Sinai due to the breach in the Rafah border.
As the sides met, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) announced that security forces had nabbed 9 tons of potassium nitrate based fertilizer during a raid in Jericho early Thursday morning. Israel banned the substance from being taken to Palestinian controlled areas as it is used by terror groups to make explosives.
Aside from discussing the peace negotiations process with the Knesset members Abbas also discussed the situation along the Gaza Egypt border. The Palestinian President declared that the process was the main problem hindering the peace process. "I can't foresee how it might end, and how it will affect the peace process. Closing the crossings to Gaza was a mistaek. Starving people and denying them electricity is wrong," Abbas said.
Meeting with Abbas and Palestinian negotiater Ahmed Qurei (Abu Alla) were deputy Foreign Minister Majallie Whbee and Amira Dotan, Ronit Tirosh and Michael Nudelman.01/24/08
