October 6th marks the 34th anniversary since the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War, when Egypt and Syria initiated a surprise attack on Israel. Last year, Israel waged a war against Hizbullah, after 8 soldiers were killed and two IDF reservists kidnapped. In both wars, Israel's intelligence establishment failed in their assessments, the early warning systems in both wars were insufficient. Infolive.tv presents an exclusive report and interviews former senior intelligence officer Brig.Gen. (Res.) Ephraim Lapid on the issues at hand. 10/02/07

I think Israel should build a laser based anti-rocket system and deploy it across the Northern Command Area. To prevent what happened to Oudi Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, a new ground surveillance radar units should be set up to scan the Blue Line. Artillery locating radars should pinpoint enemy launch sites. In the next war, Hizballah positions should be struck hard with New High and medium altitude drones. Israeli pilots are too precious to be lost in this proxy war. God help Israel!

Second Lebanon War

Though it seems, in retrospect, that Israel made many unfortunate mistakes in the Second Lebanon War, there were many in the U.S., and in the international community, who stated that at least Israel struck back at the outrage of its soldiers being killed and kidnapped. I believe that the quick and very violent response by Israel, was a terrible surprise to Hizbollah and Iran. It would seem that they had come to think of Israel as some kind of "paper tiger." So, in that regard, the Second Lebanon War was successful. Some U.S. pundits commented that at least someone (Israel), had the nerve to "take on" Hizbollah, who had become emboldened to the point of madness. Perhaps this response has made all the terrorists more wary of Israel, despite these organization's big talk.
