Israeli security forces will maintain a high level of alert over the holidays after threats by terror groups to launch attacks were received. Meanwhile the Defense Ministry order the IDF to impose a closure on the West Bank and Gaza, saying a decision to ease up the restrictions will be made in accordance with security assessments on the ground.
Security forces will beef up their presence in crowded areas such as shopping malls and markets, as well as places of entertainment and popular tourist attractions over the holiday.
Eight specific threats of potential terror attacks during the holiday have been received by the security establishment in addition to general warnings that terrorists may launch shooting or rocket attacks in addition to suicide bombings and attempted kidnappings.The army stressed that passage for those requiring humanitarian aid, doctors, medical personnel, lawyers, teachers, and religious workers will be authorized by the District Coordination and Liason Offices. Israel will also permit 1600 Palestinians from the West Bank entry to Israel for the Olive harvest.
