Hizbolá cantó victoria luego de días de enfrentamientos en los que murieron al menos 27 personas y anunció su retiro de las posiciones tomadas en Beirut. Esto ocurre gracias a que el gobierno de Fuad Siniora, que cuenta con el apoyo de Estados Unidos, aceptó dar marcha atrás con dos decisiones: el despido del jefe de seguridad del aeropuerto de Beirut, vinculado a Hizbolá, y la decisión de desmantelar la red de comunicaciones militares de Hizbolá.
La crisis política continúa, de todas formas, en Líbano. El país todavía no ha podido elegir presidente desde noviembre pasado. Hizbolá bloquea la elección ya que pide que se le otorgue poder de veto en el gobierno sobre ciertos asuntos nacionales.
