El ex diputado árabe israelí Azmi Bishara fue elegido el sábado de forma unánime para presidir la décimo novena Conferencia Nacional Árabe, que tendrá lugar en Yemen este año. Bishara se fugó de Israel por temor a ser juzgado por alta traición, al haber colaborado con Hizbolá durante la segunda Guerra de Líbano suministrando información estratégica de Israel y sobre sitios en donde atacar. Bishara era el líder del partido Balad. Días pasados su esposa llegó a Israel y fue temporariamente detenida por las fuerzas de seguridad y sometida a interrogatorio.
